Journey into the real Tunisia, a land of desert oases, huge sand dunes, Roman ruins, beautiful mosques, fascinating walled cities, rich grasslands, salt lakes and marshes, cork oak forests and rugged mountain vistas.
We have designed our tour to Tunisia so that it is literally two tours in one, taking in both the cultural and natural history highlights of this small north African land. We'll introduce you to a country that has absorbed the influences of the Phoenicians, Romans, Byzantines, Arabs, Ottomans and French. Here, the diversity of past cultures is displayed in the architecture and monuments, so well preserved in the Mediterranean climate.
This same Mediterranean climate supports a dazzling variety of animals and plant species. As we explore the region, we'll be surprised at the range of scenery and natural areas that harbour wildlife ranging from Moussier's redstarts to short-toed eagles, from wild boar to jackals, and wildflower displays that are utterly dependent on winter rains.
We'll travel from north to south in our comfortable coach, sample the local cuisine and enjoy the ambience and nature of a unique region of North Africa. |
