Honduras is a land of mountains and forests, beaches and coral reefs, mangroves and wilderness, diverse cultural heritage and a unique colonial history. It is a land of ancient Mayan temples and pyramids set in pristine rainforests teeming with wildlife. We will visit national parks, wildlife refuges and biological reserves, and observe the wildlife within them, in complete comfort and safety.
We begin by taking in the world famous ruins of Copan, where we spend two nights. We also visit Yojoa Lake, Azul Meambar National Park, Lancetilla Botanical Gardens and Punta Sal National Park. Our tour culminates with three nights at the five-star rainforest lodge, Pico Bonito, which has an excellent system of forest trails and three observation towers. From here we will undertake a variety of activities, including a boat trip through the lush canals of the Cuero Salado Wildlife Refuge, the largest manatee reserve in Central America.
Join Quest naturalist guide Jorge Barraza in Honduras, and enjoy a well-balanced tropical vacation to a unique destination. Let us stimulate your interest in the diverse tropical flora and fauna of Honduras as we guide you to a wonderful array of beautiful reefs, lowland coastal mangroves and extensive rain and cloud forests. |

| • | Maximum 16 participants |
| • | Start and finish in San Pedro Sula, Honduras |
|
| HIGHLIGHTS: |
| • | Diverse landscape, including mountains, forests, beaches, coral reefs and mangroves |
| • | Ancient Mayan temples and pyramids set in pristine rainforests teeming with wildlife |
| • | A wonderful array of orchid gardens, nature reserves, and national parks |
|
| ACTIVITY LEVEL: |
| • | Moderate. The trails that we use in our explorations of the parks and reserves are usually well marked and easy to follow. Many do, however, follow the contours of the hills and valleys and a few have steep inclines. The trails have to be traversed carefully but are accessible by anyone who has normal walking ability and stamina. Sturdy hiking shoes or boots are strongly advised and we also recommend a folding trekking pole for your added comfort and safety. Since we will be getting in and out of boats, usually from a dock, one also needs to be reasonably nimble. |

Our participants say...
Daphne and I had a wonderful time on our recent Quest trip to Honduras. We enjoyed the scenery, the friendly people, the birds, plants and animals. Our Honduran guide, Jorge Barraza was great. He organized our travel details very well, was fantastic with bird identification, was a fountain of knowledge about the Mayan culture, and was willing to discuss the various issues facing his country. He did his best to
accommodate us all.
For example, one afternoon he took four of us to a butterfly museum in La Ceiba since the butterfly center near the hotel at Pico Bonito was closed. We were particularly please with the way he
took us to local restaurants for many of our lunch and dinner meals. This was much more interesting than eating in the hotels and we got to experience a greater variety of foods. It also meant that our tourist dollars reached the local community more evenly.
